Volunteer Officers

Our volunteer officers dedicate extensive hours to serve and protect your communities.

Our Officers

Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire & Rescue (PAVFR) relies on a team of dedicated officers who provide leadership, training, and coordination across our four stations. These members are either elected or appointed to critical roles that ensure our department runs smoothly and is always ready to respond.

Chief

The Chief serves as the primary liaison between PAVFR, Grant County officials, and state and federal partners including the U.S. Forest Service and BLM. The Chief oversees department meetings, reviews financials, approves purchases, and ensures proper reporting and funding requests for incidents inside and outside our district.

Assistant Chief

Acting in place of the Chief when necessary, the Assistant Chief helps manage all administrative and operational responsibilities. They also review fire calls monthly and maintain records in the National Incident Reporting System.

Battalion Chiefs

Each of PAVFR’s four active stations is led by a Battalion Chief, responsible for maintaining station readiness, vehicle preparedness, and coordinating local training opportunities with support from lieutenants and members.

Lieutenants

  • 1st Lieutenant – Oversees quarterly vehicle maintenance and annual servicing.

  • 2nd Lieutenant – Manages station supply inventory and coordinates the purchase of necessary supplies.

Additional Officer Roles

  • Treasurer/Financial Coordinator – Compiles monthly reports, assists with budget preparation, and supports fiscal accountability.

  • Secretary – Prepares meeting agendas, records minutes, and ensures records are maintained.

  • Purchasing Officer(s) – Works within county systems to procure essential gear, tools, and apparatus.

  • Dispatch Coordinator – Publishes dispatch schedules for 24/7 coverage and maintains incident documentation.

  • EMS Coordinator – Manages EMS supplies and equipment, tracks license renewals, and submits reports/funding requests.

  • Outreach & Education Coordinator – Organizes community events and directs public engagement.

  • Public Information Officer – Oversees department messaging and maintains the PAVFR web presence.
